MHEND is a partnership project between Pentreath Ltd and Citizens Advice Cornwall.  It is funded by Cornwall Council Public Health. Clients will be allocated two advisors, one from Pentreath to support with their mental health and an Advisor from Citizens Advice Cornwall to deal with their debt and/or financial issues. The Advisors from Citizens Advice are accredited Debt Support Advisors. Support will last approximately 8  to 12 weeks and then the client will be supported to access other services within Pentreath or other appropriate agencies to help them to move towards employment or another vocational goal.  If the client does not have a vocational goal, they will be signposted to the most appropriate service for their needs.

Issues which MHEND can support people to deal with are:

  • Mental health
  • benefits advice,
  • work/employment,
  • consumer,
  • housing,
  • family, law and the courts,
  • immigration

“If you are sitting at home and you realise that your debt is spiralling you will then find that your anxiety and stress levels are also higher.

“What we would do is come in and try and stabilise things, how can we improve your mental health and at the same time how can we stabilise your debt.”
