Projects

The Recovery Service

The Recovery service is a project commissioned through the NHS Cornwall and IOS Integrated Care Board (ICB) and works collaboratively alongside Pentreath’s existing Recovery College Cornwall service (RCC). The project is open to clients living in Cornwall aged 18+.

The overall aims of the Recovery Coaches are to offer advice, guidance and support for individuals experiencing or who have experienced mental ill health; to enable them to build skills to re-enter the the labour market; and to aide and assist them into community activities, supported employment projects/mainstream employment and educational activities.

Through these aims, Recovery Coaches will endeavour to help clients to:

  • Assess and improve work skills
  • Increase confidence and encourage independence and decision making
  • Enable each person to set their own short, medium and long term goals
  • Improve employability and personal skills
  • Increase social networks and relationships, by promoting social inclusion, wellbeing and reducing stigma
  • Sustain family relationships by addressing the needs of carers and seeking to restore or improve functioning within families
  • Undertake satisfying daily activities (including education, recreation, employment)
  • Empower people to take advantage of broader opportunities
  • Promote awareness of mental health issues
  • Improve quality of life, prevent relapse and promote recovery
  • Reduce the number of hospital admissions, in frequency and duration.

The County has been split into East and West; in each area there are 2 Recovery College Trainers and 2 Recovery Coaches working in tandem alongside each other. The Recovery Workers will support clients for a maximum of 6 sessions over a 4-month period or less, dependent if the client’s goals have been met and achieved.
