Recovery College Cornwall
Our team is made up of experienced Community Trainers with a vast range of backgrounds and strengths. We have brought this all together to create the courses on offer, incorporating lived and life experience, in an effort to provide meaningful courses to encourage recovery.
I would say that people (and the natural environment) have been at the heart of my career.
I had a great time completing an Environmental Biology Degree in Liverpool, then worked in conservation engaging people with their environment. I then managed Social and Therapeutic Garden Projects for people of all ages and abilities (people with learning disabilities, mental ill health, physical disabilities, substance misuse issues and a mix of many of those situations) I moved to work with vulnerable teenagers supporting them develop their own skills, confidence and knowledge to make successful transitions to independence and adulthood. Alongside this I trained and practiced as a swimming teacher – which I returned to when living here in Cornwall. I then moved to Cornwall and worked with vulnerable Children and their families. Over the last few years I have happily returned to swimming teaching and dog walking exploring Cornwall in all weathers – especially the beaches …until I was lucky enough to join the Recovery College Cornwall as a Community Trainer – which I am loving being a part of the Recovery College Team.

Having been a student with the Recovery College Cornwall before becoming a volunteer peer mentor and now an employed Recovery College Cornwall Peer Mentor, I hope I can bring a different insight through lived experience to how we can support our amazing learners for the best outcomes for them.
